Here is our ideas' page. Amie, Jo and I discussed many themes and issues within the chosen genres. We all agreed that 'Social Realism' was the best genre. We wanted to do something different as we attempted Thriller last year and wanted to challenge ourselves. Plus, after looking back at all our research films, they all had elements of Social Realism. We wanted to apply our knowledge and experiment with long takes and ambient sound. Also, it would allow us to focus more on the chosen location and decide on realistic settings, costumes and characters for our short film.
Synopsis
It’s about a teenaged boy who waits for his girlfriend, sitting on a park bench. He spots his girlfriend walking towards him, carrying his letter in her hand, and lets her sit next to him. She blanks him, that’s because he is a ghost. He committed suicide (sorry if it sounds a bit depressing!) and wants to be with her before he flies up to heaven. So he starts to read the words while she reads the letter silently. She gets a bit emotional and runs into the fields. She decides to move on from her boyfriend’s death and walks away into the distance.
