After talking to my family and friends about our film narrative, many of them liked hearing about the plot and thought it was very interesting. Another thing, which was REALLY interesting is that they started to compare our film with other current films/TV shows . So I decided to research about them:
Randall and Hopkirk deceased (TV Show)
My Step-dad referred to this hit TV Show:_dvd_volume_2_cover.jpg)
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0063946/plotsummary
I thought this poster was really interesting as it reinforced our idea about having the ghost in a white costume whereas the girlfriend is in black: showing the dull reality, stress and darkness of the world.
Ghost (Film)
My Auntie said our film sounded like her favourite film, Ghost, starring Demi Moore.
After researching on the internet, to my amazement the narrative was really similar:
"After being killed during a botched mugging, a man's love for his partner enables him to remain on earth as a ghost"
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0099653/
Just Like Heaven (Film)
After speaking to Amie, we referred to this film 'Just Like Heaven', as it narrative involves a dead girlfriend trying to get back with her boyfriend. It's a funny romantic comedy which appeals to our similar target audience (young teen girls)
The Time Traveller's Wife (Film)
After speaking to Jo, we both admitted that our film had elements of the Time Traveller's wife from its scenes of the fields. I also stumbled across this screen grab, which is very similar to our frame featuring in our animatic.
The Lovely Bones (Film)
I was watching television and an TV Spot for the new film 'Lovely Bones' came on. I was amazed. Ghosts, magic, mixed with romance/family/crime are very popular with young audiences and that's when I realised our short film's narrative has the potential to be something great!
