Poster Research: This Is England Jo White.

The main theme i noticed with this poster is the title, and the use of effects with the title,

Firstly, that the title is in the colours of the England flag. Red, White, and Blue.

• This seems patriotic and also the font is similar to the font used in propaganda posters in the war, when they read: 'Your country needs you' which is linked with the storyline. Also a good use of font is the line: Stunning and Unforgettable A work of art" which is along the fence, as it looks like graffiti.

This poster has a definite theme of social realism, as the poster conveys reality, by using real locations, and a realistic setting for the cast to stand along in a line. Also this use of placement, seems to be like a line up. This might suggest crime.

The flats in the background also suggest that this film is dealing with working class themes and issues. Also there clothes, as at the time of the film, these types of clothing were known for skin heads to wear, to be threatening towards others.

Jo White.
