Film Poster Research- Emma Robertson

Sorry for the late posts from myself- due to illness! Anyway....

As our Film poster is part of our coursework, I decided to research on a few websites to gain some understanding on what a film poster is, what's its purpose and what should be included.

Websites

http://www.launchingfilms.tv/

• Poster should have main image

• should reveal the theme and genre of the film- iconography
• include credits and tagline
• should stand out from the other film posters- make it appealing!
• some posters contain a build-in audience such as the big star or because the film belongs to a franchise such as Harry Potter or Fast and Furious

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Film_poster

• 'advertise a film'
• 'contains an image with text'
• 'also include a tag line, the name of the director, names of characters, the release date'
• 'featuring an individual character from the film'

http://www.impawards.com/index.html

• this was a handy website as it allowed me to browse through many collections of posters and i also could read some responses to certain films.
