Film Posters
Film Posters are key in marketing.
I have researched the history and the conventions of film posters, here are some links:

The Conventions
http://shsgaction.blogspot.com/2007/11/poster-conventions.html
- A large title which attracts the eye
- Bold colours which stand out from the background
- Intriguing picture which would attract viewers to the film
- Persuasive language which might persuade the viewers to go and see the film
- Using the main characters' or actors' names for promotion
- The certification will either to ensure that the right type of people are watching the film
- Try using either the rule of thirds or the triangle of interest as a format for your work. Have a look at this site http://www.colorpilot.com/comp_rules.html for more information about how to use the rule of thirds.
Have we conformed to the conventions?
Yes! It was very important to conform to the conventions of the poster so it will be recognized as a real film poster. More is explained on my blog entry to Question 2 http://advancedportfolionelms.blogspot.com/2010/04/evaluation-question-2-part-1-emma.html
Our image was well composed
The main criticism would be how effective it is in communicating the nature of the content of the film. There is no indication of the grief, supernatural side of the film. In response to this, I believe the film poster shouldn't give these themes away, we want to draw people into our film so the audience believe this is going to be a 'happy' film.
