Our mise en scene helped us to achieve the social realism aspect as it was an unglamorous and unknown location. Therefore, the silent establishing shot at the beginning of the film introduced the location. Also, the park location enabled our film to have effective ambient sounds such as the birds, passing cars and wind during the shots to create realism for the audience. Being an outdoor environment, natural lighting was very expressive within the frames. One in particular, was the slightly low angled frame of Rich talking to Amie with the trees in the background. I felt this shot was very picturesque and surreal, which was an ideal effect we wanted convey.
